5th/6th Grade Humanities Teacher Job Description

Gilmour Academy seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic 5th/6th Grade Humanities Teacher who will inspire young learners in the areas of reading, writing, and social studies, while modeling and integrating our Gilmour mission and Holy Cross values. The teacher will join a collaborative team committed to fostering academic excellence and character development.

Responsibilities:

• Teach Language Arts and Social Studies to 5th and 6th-grade students.

• Create and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate lesson plans aligned with school standards and Gilmour's mission.

• Foster a classroom environment rooted in respect, curiosity, and a love for learning.

• Integrate Holy Cross teachings and moral development into the daily curriculum.

• Assess student progress and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

• Participate fully in school life, including faculty meetings, liturgies, and community events.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (Master’s preferred)

• 3-5 years teaching experience

• Ohio teaching certification/licensure (with reading endorsement preferred)

• Strong communication, organization, and classroom management skills
